Roger Waters Live @ Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

One can’t help but be in (absolute) awe when assigned to photograph Roger Waters. The Australian leg of his Us & Them tour had been announced a long time ago now and the minute I saw the posters throughout Melbourne I was saying to myself, ‘gee that would be an incredible opportunity’. I hoped long and hard that I would get the opportunity and on Friday afternoon I received the call from the boss at Overdrive Magazine… “Roger Waters is […]

Alice Cooper & Ace Frehley Live @ Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

No More Mr Nice Guy! In what proved to be one of the hardest photo-passes to come across, I had contacted Ace Frehley’s manager months ago to get access to this gig. Team Ace were incredibly obliging and had sorted things out for me ample time before the gig. But, would my Ace Frehley access also grant me the opportunity to photograph Alice Cooper? Number two on my bucket list was just a breath away but I need to have […]

My Photo Of Black Sabbath Enters The Smithsonian

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath I received some incredible news this afternoon. The Smithsonian (yeah, them!) has requested one of my photos to be put into the Rock And Roll Archives as well as a forthcoming book to be released in October 2017. The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum and research complex consisting of 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoological Park and nine research facilities. Approximately 30 million people from around the world visited the Smithsonian in 2009. My […]

The Negative One

The Lord Of Flies Having a little too much time on my hands this past week, I decided on a little experiment. I went through my last shoot with Slipknot and had a look at all the photos that had been rejected. The not-quite-right ones that usually just get forgotten. I wanted to create monochrome versions and add a little dirt, grime and grease to them and see what we could come up with. Collectively, I think they make for […]

Slipknot & Lamb Of God Live @ Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

This proved to be a difficult gig to get judging by the amount of photographers who were patiently waiting for our contact from Live Nation to brief us on the evening’s plans. I was originally pencilled in to shoot this gig for another publication who were granted access to the gig in Brisbane but not in Melbourne. Just as I was to give up hope, I was approached by my new editors who run Silver Tiger Media and asked if […]

KISS Live @ Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

After almost 10 years of being a Rock Photographer and after a couple of near opportunities, I finally photographed KISS. It finally happened. It finally came to pass. The stars aligned. The heavens parted. The Earth shook! Oh boy did it shake! After almost 10 years of being a Rock Photographer and after a couple of near opportunities, I finally photographed KISS. As a fan for 40 years, (yes, I can assure you, you heard right!) I found myself in […]

Black Sabbath Live @ Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia

Generals Gathered In Their Masses… It’s hard to put into words what shooting this gig meant to me. But I’ll try. I’ll try real hard to comprehend all that unfolded before me and the honour, pride, raw emotion and sheer disbelief I felt standing a foot away from Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne… Black Sabbath! When the Australian gigs were announced many months ago, that little spark in the heart kicked into gear and I was left wondering, […]

Metallica Live @ Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

By the time I photographed Metallica back in 2010, I had been shooting live music for just over a year. During that first year, I tried to cover as many gigs as humanly possible. I wanted to experience and learn everything I possibly could about live music photography and by the time Metallica rolled around, I was beginning to feel like a seasoned pro. Little did I know that there was so much more to learn and experience along the […]
