I was on assignment for most of today photographing the Rites Of Passage festival for a UK publication. After a long day with the camera, I just wanted a nice, quiet night at home – but alas, that wasn’t to be.
Brisbane Industrial Shock Rockers Darkc3ll were in town and lead singer Jesse Dracman contacted me via my Facebook page and pleaded I photograph them tonight. Initially, I declined purely because of the fatigue factor but having casually photographed the guys before (Soundwave and opening for Otep), I knew they were a visual treat and hellish fun to shoot.
I agreed to cover their show at the Cherry Bar tonight and herein are the results.
Darkc3ll played their hearts out to a very receptive Cherry Bar and commanded that stage as if they were playing Rod Laver Arena. Tight as hell, their industrial grooves pounded well into the Melbourne eve.
They truly are fun to photograph, I love working with a visual band and even if the makeup was a little toned down from when I last shot them at Soundwave, they still proved to be a visual and most definitely aural treat.
Great band and great fun. I look forward to watching their career from the sidelines and hope they return to Melbourne soon.
I’m glad I got to photograph them tonight.
